The Sociology Live project
OPEN TO ALL SASS UNDERGRADUATES
HASTINGS – TUESDAYS 1-2PM LECTURE THEATRE
FALMER – FRIDAYS 11AM-12PM CHECKLAND D222
We believe it is important that sociology is taught in a way that allows it to be responsive to important social issues that emerge during the course of a semester. When topics are planned in advance, sociology courses do not always give students the opportunity to engage critically with the world in real-time. The aim of this project is to trial an extracurricular series of short (20-30 minutes) lectures giving a sociological take on news stories (chosen by students from the previous week’s news) followed by discussions.
