The Faculty of Science and Engineering is committed to raising public awareness through engagement with schools, industry and the public.
Staff across the faculty carry out activities which engage with school children as young as five right through to year 10 and 11 students who are choosing their GCSE options or A-level subjects. Many of these activities are coordinated by STEM Sussex in partnership with schools, other universities, businesses and other organisations. Through these events the Faculy aims to enhance delivery of the science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) curricula at all Key Stages and to improve achievements in these subjects by hosting a number of taster days. The faculty also provides a programme of public lectures and other events to enhance public understanding of science.
The faculty hosts a wide range of activities including:
- Christmas Lectures
- Engineering Education Scheme
- National Science Week Lectures
- Go4Set
- A-level Chemistry Revision Lectures
- Analytical Chemistry Masterclasses
Full details of events and activities are available through the STEM Sussex website.
