Further Research

For further research about films in the archive’s collection, please contact the archive directly.

When contacting the archive with a query, please let us have details of the nature and subject area of your research. We prefer to receive detailed enquiries in writing, by email or letter, as this allows us to respond more effectively to your research needs. Archive staff can then help with your enquiry or make an appointment for you to research and view the material you have selected.

Viewing

Please note that not all the material in the archive is available for public access. As unique and often fragile items, the original films in the collection are not available for public use. However, copies of many of the films in the collection may be viewed, by appointment, at the archive.

Enquirers wishing to view material or find out more should contact the archive with their request.

Viewing copies and accompanying documents are available for study, at the archive’s office at the University of Brighton. Some facilities are also available at the West Sussex Record Office at Chichester.

Copies

Obtaining copies of footage will be subject to copyright restrictions and charges may be made by the Archive for providing this service. Any requirements should be discussed with archive staff - you will need to tell us about your project and your intended use of the footage. It can take time for the Archive to prepare copies so you will need to ensure you give as much notice as possible of your requirements. Please contact the archive for futher details.
