The Region on Film - Disc One - Community

Our collection is primarily about communities. Community-based films were made to record important events such as sports days, parades and celebrations. There are also films about schools, hospitals, orphanages, the scouts, the guides and other organisations that exist to develop our communities – especially for those who are in need. Many of the films in this section are drawn from the 1930s, an era when many organisations began to use film for the first time to promote their community activities and facilities. Such films usually served as fund-raisers, encouraging the audience to make a donation. The films listed below are featured in this section of the DVD.
