  • Rye Biofuels - development of performance/quality standards for biodiesel – EPSRC Industrial Case Award
    The University is working with Rye Biofuels to help the company to develop quality and performance protocols for the biodiesel it manufactures from waste cooking oil. The varied nature of the feed stock means that there are some particular technical challenges to address to ensure maximum uniformity in product. Solutions are being developed as part of a three and a half year Industrial Case Award PhD programme supported by the company and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
  • Churngold Remediation - commercialisation of Ferric Iron Remediation and Stabilisation (FIRS), a soil clean up technology strategy - Knowledge transfer Partnership
    The university carried out a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Churngold Remediation to develop FIRS at pilot scale. FIRS proved a highly effective in the remediation tool in dealing with Chromium VI contamination.

  • East Sussex County Council – Sussex Commercial and Industrial Waste strategy - short Knowledge transfer Partnership
    University of Brighton waste management experts are working with council waste teams from across Sussex to formulate a ground breaking commercial and industrial waste strategy for the county. Although provisions are in place to manage household waste consistently and effectively, the area of commercial and industrial waste has not yet been addressed in any depth either locally or nationally. This strategy will provide the in depth knowledge required to formulate the optimum approach. The project is being funded under the short Knowledge transfer Partnership scheme.
  • Phlorum – knowledge transfer partnership on sustainable buildings
    Experts in buildings sustainability at the University of Brighton are working with the environmental consultancy Phlorum, to develop and embed the ability to model and predict the cradle-to-grave carbon footprint of new domestic properties.
