I have found teaching to be awesome, borderline fantastic! Through my teaching of geography I aim to inspire enquiry about the world we live in. The subject content from my studies at the University of Brighton (especially the GIS and Physical Geography elements) has really helped with my teaching, especially when it came to completing a subject knowledge audit for my Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). In fact, I continue to make good use of the data, course material and photographs from my undergraduate field trips in my geography lessons.
I am shortly going to be heading to Iceland with my sixth formers. They say that to see the world, you should become a travel agent - I say teaching Geography is hot on its heels!
Hopefully Brighton will start to see the end product of my teaching in the years to come, as I currently have two sixth formers contemplating continuing their academic studies at the University of Brighton!
