I had a fantastic three years studying in Brighton and would highly recommend this course!
Shortly after graduating I went to work as an Exploration Geologist for a gold exploration company in Mali, West Africa. There I led a team of international geologists conducting field mapping, rock-type analysis and field core logging; all skills that I had developed on the course. My training in GIS at Brighton also allowed me to take over as database manager for the Mali operations, analysing and developing sets of geographical data.
Acquiring experience working in the field is an essential requirement for anyone wanting to begin a career in earth science and I was able to take part in exciting fieldtrips throughout the course, including trips to Spain and Cornwall.
