Research in this theme extends across the interdisciplinary area of built environment that draws from the traditional disciplines of architecture, economics, law, management, town planning, construction engineering and technology.Research strands undertaken in the sustainable construction and environmental planning research theme are:
- access to food in the urban environment
- building and energy modelling, and life-cycle assessment
- coastal planning and regeneration
- information & communication systems and technologies for built environment applications
- evaluation of infrastructure procurement & contracts in emerging economies
- construction methods, processes and technologies, focusing on project complexity
- sustainable refurbishment and modernisation
