The University of Brighton and Ricardo UK are pleased to announce the opening of the Sir Harry Ricardo Laboratories on Tuesday 14th November 2006.
The SHRL's reputation has recently been reinforced by the successful funding of three, highly prestigious projects that address the environmental targets of UK and European governments and the global strategy to reduce total vehicle emissions. These unique programmes represent the very cutting edge of engine research, destined to meet the pollution requirements of road transport in many years time. The high ranking research and industry confidence were rewarded with a programme focused on the pinnacle of motorsport engineering.
These projects have built upon the special University-industry partnership forged between the group and Shoreham-based consultancy, Ricardo UK Ltd. Ricardo is a leading provider of technology, innovative engineering solutions and strategic consulting to the world's automotive industries. The new research facility marks the latest development in this long and highly successful collaboration. The group is greatly honoured to have been presented the opportunity to name its new facilities after the illustrious Sir Harry Ricardo, founder of Ricardo and former President of the IMechE.
