Neonatal pathway
50 credits

This clinical pathway aims to provide health care practitioners with neonatal research/evidence-based professional and academic knowledge, practice and education. Newborn infants have the potential to become very sick, very quickly and with approximately 80% of infants weighing less than 1000 grams at birth surviving, the role of neonatal staff has become more diverse and demanding to reflect the changes in neonatal medicine.

Professional accreditation

Completion of a clinical pathway will enable practitioners to develop towards enhanced career status. The majority of practitioners who undertake these pathways continue to work in the chosen area of practice after completion.

The clinical pathway is 50 credits and is made up of two modules:

Following completion of the pathway, student may wish to continue with their studies for the award of the Acute Clinical Practice BSc(Hons).

Career opportunities

On completion of the pathway practitioners are in a position to further their professional development and career within neonatal care.
