Sexual and Reproductive Health (SARH) pathway
The pathway is designed to develop the specialist knowledge and skills of practitioners working in both primary and secondary care, whose role incorporates supporting clients around issues related to sexual and reproductive health and HIV. Students can chose two or more modules at level three to use towards a pathway to add to the Professional Practice BSc(Hons), enabling them to become informed competent practitioners.
Students will be building on their past experiences acquired from working with clients around aspects of HIV, sexual and reproductive care.
Professional accreditation
Completion of a clinical pathway will enable practitioners to develop towards enhanced career status. The majority of practitioners who undertake these pathways continue to work in the chosen area of practice after completion.
Subject areas
Module choices will be discussed with the pathway module leaders to ensure that 40 level 3 credits are gained from the SARH pathway modules and that, after completing the research module (20 credits), the dissertation (30 credits) undertaken also focuses on SARH.
Career opportunities
The SARH pathway supports health care professionals(HCPs) working in many fields of primary and secondary care who wish to expand their role in the specialist areas of sexual and reproductive health (including HIV), or HCPs who want to develop and expand their roles as sexual health advisors or nurses working in family planning, HIV or Sexual health services.
