Pam O'Donoghue, a student on our MA Nursing Studies and a cancer research sister at the University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH), has received a £1,000 prize from the charity Beating Bowel Cancer for her work with cancer patients.

Pam had been nominated by one of her patients for the charity's annual Nurse Recognition Awards, and on Wednesday 23 January she was at the House of Commons to receive the award, presented by Ann Keen MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health.

Hilary Whittaker, chief executive of Beating Bowel Cancer, said "We are thrilled to be able to give something back to the fantastic nurses who work with bowel cancer patients, and our annual Nurse Recognition Awards give us a wonderful opportunity to thank two special nurses each year. This year it is an added honour to be able to present these awards in the prestigious surrounding of the House of Commons, and I was delighted to personally meet Pam and congratulate her on all she does."
