The school recently hosted three visitors from the department of caring science at the University of Borås, Sweden. They visited SNM as part of an Erasmus-funded exchange programme.
One of the lecturers, Kenneth Jönsson, is a lecturer practitioner at the University of Borås in emergency care nursing, and taught emergency nurse practitioners who were students on our Clinical Practice BSc (Hons) about ER nursing in Sweden.
Dr Eva Persson shared her current research titled 'From traditional care to patient-centred care' with staff from the school, and contributed to the diploma in nursing programme and Nursing BSc(Hons) programme by teaching students about acute clinical situations and nursing in Sweden.
The school also offers a three-month Erasmus student exchange for our undergraduate Nursing (Adult) BSc(Hons) students to undertake at the University of Borås in year 2 of their studies which has been excellently evaluated, and a new two-week paramedic exchange for undergraduate paramedic students starting in 2012.
Dr Shirley Bach (Head of School) and Jane Alderton (Assistant Head of School) will be visiting the University of Borås in May. Dr Bach is presenting at the European Academy of Caring Sciences conference being hosted at the university, while Jane Alderton will be undertaking a teacher exchange to explore potential research opportunities and to teach nursing students.
