Dr Shirley Bach, head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, recently gave the keynote address at a conference for the European Academy of Caring Science, of which she is a founding member.
The conference took place in Borås, Sweden on 5 May 2011. The paper was entitled Exploring the development of a model of cultural care for European Caring Sciences, and was co-authored by Kate Law, also from the School of Nursing and Midwifery.
The paper was the product of a collaboration between three countries – the United Kingdom, Denmark and Sweden – and five universities to explore the literature and identify a model to support caring science professionals and promote a more humanizing experience of care that reflects a contemporary European landscape.
