New award: Obesity prevention among children and adolescents

Dr Nigel Sherriff of the Centre for Health Research (CHR) has been awarded €95,000 by the European Commission to act as Principle Investigator for the UK on a three-year project on obesity prevention among children and adolescents. Working with Carol Williams (School of Nursing and Midwifery), together they will collaborate with partners from 15 European countries.

The long-term aim of the HEPCOM Project is to contribute to obesity prevention among children and young people in the EU. The overall aim of the project is to increase the quality and level of local community and school interventions all over Europe on promoting healthy eating and physical activity among children and young people, by up-scaling good practice and results from previous and current European projects, based on networking and dissemination, and through the development of a sustainable European web-based learning platform.
