Flexible learning

Flexible learning is for learners who wish to focus their studies on their work and gain academic credit for their learning. The flexible learning modules available are offered as core or optional modules on courses across the school or can be taken as discreet modules of learning which may be brought in to the university later. In addition flexible learning offers an opportunity for workplaces to gain university recognition for their 'in house' training programmes.

The scope of activity offered through flexible learning is outlined below.

Student profile

Rebecca Rushton, Urology Investigation Suite, Eastbourne District General Hospital

I was introduced to flexible learning at a time when I returned to the NHS in a new area of clinical practice. I used the opportunity to gain university credits for the knowledge and skills needed for my role. I have undertaken the work-based learning module at level three for 30 credits and AP(E)L at level three for 30 credits. I flourished with the learning style. If you are self-motivated and have clear objectives of learning outcomes to be achieved in order to develop your nursing role, these are the modules for you. These gave me the confidence to go on to complete the degree, attending the classroom-based modules and progress in my nursing career.
