Recognising and accrediting work-related learning (RAWL)
RAWL is similar to AP(E)L but refers to prior learning of a more recent nature. It is likely to follow on from learning at 'in-house' events such as a workshop, study day, conference or course, for example, intermediate smoking cessation. RAWL can be used as evidence of 'sign-off mentor' activity. You do not have to be enrolled on a course.
You can claim credit if you submit evidence for the learning and its relevance to your work role within one year of the event. You will need to attend an AP(E)L and RAWL workshop to learn about the process and then enrol on a RAWL module. The workshop is booked through the study days and workshops website.
A variety of discrete RAWL modules across academic levels 1, 2, 3 and M are available to individuals currently working in the field of health and social care. This may be paid or unpaid work and include service users such as clients, carers and patients as well as professional and non-professional staff grades.
RAWL credit could contribute towards an award bearing course such as a degree if course regulations allow transfer of credit.
