Opportunities to be involved...

About us

We are a group of patients, carers and staff from the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Members have an interest in helping students understand the patient experience. In other words, what it is like to be a patient or client receiving health and social care and how this affects family and friends who may also be giving some of that care. Experiences might include health promotion advice to stay healthy, going to the local GP surgery for treatment, and living with a long term condition. There are also the experiences of being in hospital or a clinic and how this impacts on carers as well, and the advice and support they are offered.

It is important the group has a membership representing the diverse characteristics of people accessing health and social care services: the young, older people, male, female, black, minority ethnic groups, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered, those with different cultural and religious beliefs, people with learning disabilities and those who use mental health services.

We welcome those who might want to get involved and share their experiences of health and social care.
