Profile
Nikki completed her undergraduate course in physiotherapy at Newcastle Polytechnic in 1979. After working clinically in Newcastle Upon Tyne and Saudi Arabia, she then completed a Postgraduate Diploma Manipulative Physiotherapy in Melbourne, Australia in 1986. She worked clinically for a few years at the Royal Sussex Hospital in Brighton, and then joined the University of Brighton in 1991.
Nikki completed her postgraduate studies with an MSc from Coventry University. She then went on to write two successful textbooks related to neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy. She obtained a Doctorate in Physiotherapy in 2009 after completing a research study entitled 'Towards clinical expertise: learning transitions of neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy'. In the same year she was awarded a Fellowship of the Manipulation Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.
Nikki is the programme leader for the Professional Doctorate in Health and Social Care and Course Leader of the MRes (Clinical Research). She continues to do some teaching on the MSc in Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy and MSc Rehabilitation Science.
