The Olympic and Paralympic village contains a state-of-the-art polyclinic housing some of the most sophisticated medical equipment to treat thousands of athletes during the Games. Throughout the Games there will be a podiatrist on duty continuously at the polyclinic in the athletes village.

There are 15 podiatrists in the team and this is the first time any Games has provided a team of podiatrists to care for athletes as part of the wider medical care facilities. They will be dealing with the common foot, ankle and leg problems encountered by lower limb musculoskeletal/sports podiatrists including providing diagnosis, investigations and treatment.

Simon said: "It's a unique opportunity to be a part of the greatest show on earth. Our vision is to provide a comprehensive and evidence-based care to athletes and to safely return them to sport participation."
