About us
The School of Health Professions at the University of Brighton is a centre of excellence for allied health professions education and research. The school was established in 1998 through the amalgamation of occupational therapy, physiotherapy and podiatry (which celebrates 25 years in the university this year). Our strengths in professional education, and the applied social and natural sciences provide a framework for a genuinely multi-disciplinary approach to health and social care. With over 70 staff (50 of these academic) and a vibrant research culture the school is a major centre for allied health professions education in the South of England and the UK.
Courses
We run major pre-registration courses in occupational therapy, physiotherapy and podiatry and a wide range of taught masters programmes which can be multi-professional or specific to any of these three disciplines. As well as a PhD route, there is also a Professional Doctorate course with named routes in physiotherapy, podiatry and occupational therapy, delivered by the school's Clinical Research Centre (CRC).
In addition to the courses delivered in Eastbourne, the school also has responsibility for a course in Complementary Health Care at its partner college in Lewes (Sussex Downs College).
Research and consultancy
The school's research activity is based in the Clinical Research Centre. The CRC is an integral part of the school and is responsible for the strategic direction and implementation of research in the school and also currently provides support for more than 40 MPhil, PhD and Professional Doctorate students.

Facilities and location
The school is located in a glorious area of Eastbourne, with library, study, accommodation, social and sporting facilities of the highest calibre. There are more than 2000 students based on the university's Eastbourne campus.
