Physiotherapists use physical methods (exercise, manual techniques and electrical modalities) in working with a wide range of people who have illness or injury. In addition they help individuals to maintain or improve their health and well-being through advice, exercise and education.
More information about physiotherapy can be found on the website of the professional body -
The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
We have a range of courses available from BSc(Hons) to Doctoral level.
If you are not yet a qualified physiotherapist and do not have a first degree, the Physiotherapy BSc(Hons) course may be right for you and is a three-year, full-time course. The course currently takes 50 students each year from a wide range of backgrounds and experience. UK and EU residents are eligible to have their course fees funded by the NHS. UK residents are also eligible to apply for a means-tested bursary.
If you are not yet a qualified physiotherapist but do have a first degree, the Rehabilitation Science (Physiotherapy) MSc course may be right for you. This is a two-year, full-time "accelerated" course in problem-based learning (PBL) mode. The course currently takes 15 students each year and begins in February. The NHS pays all course fees for this course and awards a means tested grant.
Both of these courses have a blend of theoretical underpinning, practical skills development and workplace learning leading to eligibility to apply for registration with the Health Professions Council (HPC) as a physiotherapist and eligibility for membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) as well as the academic qualification.
If you are already a qualified physiotherapist wanting to study for your continuing professional development (CPD) we have a wide range of modules (which can be taken separately) and courses available. The school is also part of the faculty graduate programme in health and social sciences and so additional modules and courses can be accessed.
