Mindfulness – The Brighton and Sussex Medical School have introduced a third year elective module as a result of Dr Graham Stew's research into using mindfulness with students. Mindfulness is also being used within Occupational Therapy practice as a direct result of research. A student completed her dissertation on the use of mindfulness in Occupational Therapy practice and has since gone on to introduce it into her practice.

Lynne Caladine is a member of the Association of Clinical Educators and has instigated a national programme of accreditation for clinical educators. This programme has since been adopted by the College of Occupational Therapists (APPLE project), with the University of Brighton acting as a pilot site, and now as a full site.

Gaynor Sadlo is a member of an international research project examining the impact of graduate entry programmes in Occupational Therapy. She is also a project leader of OT in HE (ENOTHE), a research project investigating how practical skills are taught in modern curricula throughout Europe. The findings of which have been published.

One of Gaynor's creations, the PBL Directory, is maintained by the School of Health Professions and CRC staff has become an international resource. It has been cited as a research tool within a number of publications. View the Directory.

Members of the group also regularly present their findings at the Learning and Teaching Conference within the University of Brighton. The conference is attended by teaching staff from across the university and provides an excellent way for staff to feed back research findings to colleagues in a discursive, practice-centred way.

Other members of the group include Professor John Richardson, who has published a great range of studies examining learning and teaching. Also, Dr Vinnie Cross has brought to the group her expertise in clinical education, reflective practice and professional education, amongst other things.
