Posture and mobility research group

This research group focuses its attention on improving posture and mobility for individuals with complex disabilities for example, patients suffering from stroke. The group consists of occupational therapists, physiotherapists and engineers.

This group is led by Dr Anne Mandy and Dr Terry Pountney.

  • The development and use of a wheelchair for use by people with one hand
  • Pressure distribution using dynamic pressure mapping in three different one arm drive wheelchairs
  • User evaluation of the Neater Uni-Wheelchair in the home environment
  • Does the Neater Uni-Wheelchair improve quality of life and independence in hemiplegic wheelchair users?

  • Factors influencing the use of postural management equipment for children with cerebral palsy
  • Communication and discourse between therapists and children with cerebral palsy
  • Posture, and sleep in children with cerebral palsy
