Welcome to the OPEn study
Osteopathic practices around the country are being invited to participate in one of the most important programmes of research for osteopaths and their patients to be undertaken in 2009.
The project's aim:
To gain a deeper understanding of patients' expectations of osteopaths and osteopathic treatment, and the extent to which these are met. The results will help all osteopaths to shape their practices to meet the needs and expectations of their patients most effectively.
The research questions are:
- What are the specific aspects of osteopathic practice about which patients have expectations?
- To what extent do patients perceive that their expectations are met?
Who is conducting the research?
The General Osteopathic Council has commissioned the research, which will be conducted by researchers at the University of Brighton Clinical Research Centre for Health Professions. The study began in February, 2009. It is due to be completed by December, 2009.
