The Clinical Research Centre offers two different routes for doctoral study.
In close association with the Clinical Research Centre, the school has also recently launched the Clinical Research MRes, which provides an excellent platform for health professionals within clinical environments to progress to doctoral level studies.
We have over 50 research students currently registered with us covering a wide range of specialisms. Find out more about the current and past work of our students.
All postgraduate research students are members or honorary members of the University of Brighton Doctoral College. The Doctoral College champions a stimulating researcher development environment and connects the university's research community. Students and supervisors are given practical support to achieve high and timely project completion.
Dr Anne Mandy is Director of Postgraduate Research Studies in the Brighton Doctoral College Eastbourne site.
Dr Nikki Petty is programme leader for the Professional Doctorate Programme in Health and Social Care, a programme which is hosted by the Clinical Research Centre on behalf of the Faculty of Health and Social Science and the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
Students receive expert guidance from our staff and can make use of our up-to-date research facilities. We also provide extensive research training for both types of research degrees including:
- The University of Brighton's Certificate of Research Methodology, part of the University Research Training Framework (URTF)
- Study of appropriate research related and subject specific modules within the Graduate Programme in Health and Social Sciences
- Uni/Multi-professional supervision as appropriate
- A series of introductory seminars attended by all students exploring methodologies relevant to Health Service related research
