Our commitment to sustainability

As a part of the University of Brighton, Southcoast Conferences is committed to sustainable development and engaging positively with the local and wider community in line with the University of Brighton's sustainability statement.

This commitment includes:

  • Sourcing products used from ethical suppliers
  • Offering Fairtrade products at each refreshment break
  • Using fresh and seasonal products
  • Treating our tap water in-house to provide zero-mile water.

We also:

  • Use recycled papers in all printed brochures and promotions
  • Have an e-marketing strategy to reduce printed materials
  • Ensure our conference pads, pens and promotional gifts  are made from recycled materials where possible
  • Recycle all our conference paper waste 
  • Have selected conference tables that don't need covers, which would require laundering.

Fairtrade 

The university holds Fairtrade status and our Catering Services play an active role in promoting Fairtrade through the continued expansion of the product range. All our tea, coffee and sugar is Fairtrade.
