University Boxing Coach Wins City Sports Award

Local coaches, volunteers, clubs and athletes were recognised for their hard work and achievements at the recent Brighton and Hove City Council sports awards ceremony held at the Amex Community Stadium.

University of Brighton boxing coach, Adam Haniver, who is a graduate of the institution having studied sports science here, has had a fantastic season coaching the University of Brighton boxing team to a number of national titles as well as leading and developing City College Brighton’s Boxing Academy where education and boxing is combined under the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE).

Adam’s successful year culminated in the Academy producing the current ABA Junior Champion and the scheme continues to go from strength to strength. Adam was duly recognised as the Coach of the Year for the immense amount of time he gives to developing the sport and for the incredible success his boxers had last year. Adam also won the 2011 University of Brighton Coach of the Year title at the university's Sports Awards last May.
