National Student Survey commends teaching

The National Student Survey (NSS) published this week highlighted the quality of teaching and facilities offered by the School of Service Management.

The NSS gathers feedback on students' perception of their courses to help provide future applicants with more information when selecting a university and course.

Final-year students were asked for their views on six areas of student experience including teaching, assessment and feedback, academic support, organisation and management, learning resources and personal development.

The tourism students identified the quality of the “learning resources” (91%) whilst the retail students felt that the course was “intellectually stimulating” (92%).

The travel students stated that the “staff are enthusiastic about what they are teaching” (92%), the hospitality students are “able to contact staff when needed” (83%) and the event students are “able to access general IT resources when needed” (81%).

Head of Teaching, Steven Goss-Turner, commented, “ this is excellent feedback from the students and fully endorses all the hard work and commitment to teaching at the school”.

We would like to thank all our final year students who completed the survey, giving us such good feedback.
