What our graduates say

Cynthia Zhuang

MA International Event Management, 2005

I worked as an event coordinator for four years at the China Hi-Tech Fair in Shenzhen, Southern China, before I decided to undertake professional training in event management and came to study in the UK.

I was just lucky to spot the MA course in International Event Management at the School of Service Management, the University of Brighton, from so many programmes offered and had the opportunity to fulfil my career ambitions in event management.

During the year life in Eastbourne, I was most impressed by the friendly environment whether it be on campus or around the town centre. The cultural diversity of my class, gave me a perspective and insight that I could not have learned from books.

The course content was well structured, focusing on practical event management and we were outstandingly supported by the teaching staff. My Masters attachment gave an insight into the world of academic research, and provided me with an excellent foundation to undertake further postgraduate studies. I was lucky enough to be offered a research position prior to the completion of my master’s degree.

I am a Research Assistant in Olympic and Paralympic Studies at the University of Bedfordshire, and working towards a PhD. My project will allow me to study the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and will combine my passion for both sports and event management. In the long run, I hope to work in the event industry.
