I graduated with International Travel Management BA (Hons) in 2005. In some ways it feels like only yesterday and in other respects, a lifetime ago!
In my final year at high school, I completed a weeks work experience with British Airways and loved it. I knew then that I wanted to work in Travel. This was the perfect course and ticked every box I was looking for.
I am currently working for TUI Travel - the world’s leading leisure travel company. I head up the trade and retail sales teams for the Ski, Luxury and Tailormade division of the group. I joined the business, which was then First Choice on the Graduate Development Programme a few months after graduating and after a summer of fun working as a holiday rep in Bulgaria!
The International Travel Management course taught me a huge array of transferable business skills that I now use every day. In addition the course taught me to be a critical thinker, to look at every scenario and understand whether it is the right action to achieve my objectives.
I found that, more than the academic qualifications, going to university teaches you the best life skills in a really fun, safe environment and you genuinely forge friendships for life. Choosing the University of Brighton really was the best investment I made.
