Brand manager for Aspects Beauty Company
After graduating with Retail Marketing BA (Hons) I went on to further study and have now completed a Marketing MA at the Brighton campus of the university.
I am currently working as a brand manager for Aspects Beauty Company, a company that distributes cosmetics, fragrances and skincare brands throughout the UK. Some of the more familiar brands are Versace, Cavalli and Moschino. My role is looking after niche, luxury brands and the day-to-day tasks I encounter make my job thoroughly enjoyable and varied.
The Retail Marketing course itself was fantastic - we were assessed by many different methods, not just reports and essays but presentations, role-plays and creative workshops. The variety of assessment types helped to vary the style of learning and made the course more pleasurable. Many tasks involved working as a group - much more like the 'real world', enabling group interaction, and delegating and prioritising workload.
It was not only the academic side of university that prepared me for the wonderful world of full-time work, but the social skills, gaining my independence and self-discipline, all skills which are essential for a successful marketing career.
