What our graduates say

Schenai Mac Donald

MA Tourism Management, 2006

I decided to pursue a Masters degree to further build on my academic experiences.  Tourism has always interested me, while management will always be an integral part of operating any successful organisation.  Integrating both areas, Tourism Management was the perfect course, being offered by the School of Service Management at the University of Brighton, Eastbourne campus.

Living in Brighton, I commuted for classes, and had the option of using Aldrich library for literature. Having various libraries plus the modern access to Student Central are convenient for students’ use since time is very valuable to handle the challenging workload.  Two days a week for in-class lectures was suitable for this level of studies, since their purpose is for guidance.  Tutors are very helpful, especially when students show a genuine interest.  Actual learning does not depend on them dictating everything, however.  As a result of completing the course I have developed independent skills, particularly for in-depth research, professional writing and presentation activities.

I am content with the past year and what it has added to my life.  As I leave, challenges from the course will be missed, but I confidently approach my career as an improved Tourism Management individual.
