To create and expand knowledge through theoretical and applied research that makes a significant contribution to the development of theory and to disseminate the findings of research through a range of appropriate channels.
Knowledge generation is vital for our teaching. It enriches the student experience and is translated into practice through commercial activity for the benefit of our industrial sectors.

Research Environment
The School has an excellent track record of investment in the research infrastructure and the development of research active staff.
- We have an established staff development programme to support both active and new researchers.
- The University and the School have invested over £400,000 to provide a new Culinary Arts Studio and a dedicated PhD Suite for the School’s research students.
- Our Aspects of Tourism International Conference series is now in its 6th year and attracts international scholars from around the world.
- Our visiting scholar programme has attracted researchers from a range
of countries:
