Confidentiality

Your counselling sessions are confidential, so you can feel comfortable speaking openly. Counselling does not affect your academic record.

At your session your counsellor will explain your rights and their commitment to your confidentiality. If your work is being affected by personal problems, your counsellor can speak to your tutor or someone within the university, although this only happens with your permission.

The counselling service adheres to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice.
