Working in the UK
Working during your studies
Please note that if you are in possession of a student visa, which allows you to work, you must not work for more than 20 hours per week during term time. Working in excess of 20 hours is a criminal offence which can lead to a fine and/or imprisonment and can lead to removal from the UK.
The university Careers Service has information and sources of vacancies for students looking for work during or after your study.
In order to work in the UK you will need to apply for a National Insurance Number. The Careers Service also provide useful information about national insurance and tax.
For information visit the UKCISA's Working during your studies page and for EEA students Your right to work in the UK.
Working after your studies
For information visit the UKCISA's Working in the UK after your studies page.
Students or Graduates who have obtained a job offer (for after their study) which qualifies them for Tier 2, can contact the Student Advice Service on studentadvice@brighton.ac.uk or 01273 642888 for advice on visas.
