Bridging Loan

A Bridging Loan is a short-term loan designed to assist you in a temporary crisis, to cover only the cost food and travel to your site of study. Bridging loans are administered by the Student Advice Service.

Who can apply

All UK, EU and international students can apply for a Bridging Loan. However students with any outstanding debt to the university are NOT eligible to apply.

How much can I receive?

The maximum Bridging Loan available is £50 a week or £100 a week for student parents or students with a disability that prevents them from working.

Payments are made in cash and should be repaid within four weeks.

How to apply

You must apply in person to the Student Advice Service

Before you apply you should have maximised all other sources of generating income:including a job, overdraft, loans from family or friends. 

You will need to provide a current bank statement and a current University of Brighton library card.
