For UK and EU students starting in 2012

University of Brighton bursaries

The University of Brighton provides a range of bursaries for undergraduate students. A bursary is money or other support that does not have to be paid back when you complete your course.

Our bursaries can help you to cover the cost of fees, books, equipment, university accommodation, travel, study aids, childcare and other study-related costs. Depending on your circumstances you could be eligible for more than one bursary.

Please note bursaries are not paid during the salaried industrial placement year which is a feature of many of our courses.

Students from Scotland, Wales and Northern Island

University of Brighton bursaries (with the exception of the EU widening access bursary for EU students) are only for students resident in England when they apply for student funding. 

NHS bursaries for social work

If you are a UK resident you can apply for a non-income assessed bursary from the NHS Business Services Authority if you are doing an approved undergraduate or postgraduate social work course. 

Bursary applications for 2012/13 close on 30 November 2012.

NHS bursary

If you have been offered a NHS-funded place on an undergraduate nursing or allied health professions course you are eligible to apply for a means-tested bursary. For students starting in 2012 this would be £2,591 per year if you live away from home, and £2,163 if you live with your parents.

You may also be eligible for a number of additional allowances, including a Dependants Allowance and a Parents Learning Allowance.

How to apply

You will receive an application pack from the NHS Student Grant Unit who will have been informed by the university that you have been offered a NHS-funded place.

Teaching Agency training bursaries

The amount you are eligibe for depends on the subject you are training to teach.
