Care leavers' study grant

The Care Leavers' Study Grant (CLSG) assists young people who have been in care to undertake higher education courses by offering additional financial assistance. 

Who can apply

The CLSG is typically available to students under the age of 25 who have been cared for by a local authority for at least 13 weeks since the age of 14.  The CLSG is worth £1,000 per year. The CLSG is only available to students who started studying in of before 2011.

Students  starting a course in 2012 may be eligible for apply for the care leavers' bursary.

How to apply

When you applied through UCAS you would have indicate on your UCAS form that you have been in local authority care. Payment of the grant will be made at the beginning of the autumn term each year.
