Student Support Fund

The Student Support Fund is a university fund available to new undergraduate and PGCE students from England starting in 2012 who are liable to pay £9000 tuition fees. It is open to students from low income backgrounds who are experiencing financial hardship. Students should use the fund to help pay for  course-related costs e.g. travel or childcare.   

Who can apply?

You are eligible to apply for the Student Support Fund if you are:

  • a new undergraduate or PGCE student commencing a course on or after 1 September 2012 and liable to pay £9000 tuition fees
  • from England
  • from a household with an income that is below £42,600 (as assessed by Student Finance England)
  • in receipt of the maximum statutory funding you are entitled to
  • a full-time student, or you are a part time student studying at least 25% of an equivalent full-time course.

When to apply

The fund is open from 1 October 2012 to the 28 June 2013.

You can only submit one application during the year, however eligible applicants may also be considered for other funds where appropriate.

Collect an application form from a student adviser at any of our Student Advice Services, or download an application pack (310k pdf).
