Funding advice for Canadian students
If you are Canadian and want to study at the University of Brighton, you can apply for financial aid from their Federal and Provincial Governments. Canadian loans are means-tested, meaning you must demonstrate financial need in order to qualify for financial aid.
We are a public institution with the code PVEW (although some provinces/territories may use a different code).
Applying for your loan
You should apply for your loan through your provincial/territorial student assistance office or website. When you apply for a loan, you are considered for funding by both the Provincial and Federal Government, meaning you only have to apply once for funding for the year.
Federal loans are handled by the National Student Loans Service Centre. Provincial loans are handled by provincial governments and student aid branches.
Your provincial Student Finance Department and not the University of Brighton will process your loans.
Tax relief on payment of your tuition fees
If you are a Canadian taxpayer studying full-time for a degree at the University of Brighton, you can claim the appropriate percentage of tuition fees paid (subject to certain restrictions) as a tax credit. Parent/guardians of Canadian students studying full-time at the university can also claim the transferred portion of tuition fees allowed under the Canadian Income Tax Act.
If you want to make a tax credit claim please make sure you have receipts bearing the name of the university.
