Tuition fees

EU undergraduates starting in 2013

If you are a resident of an EU country and are studying for your first course at university you do not have to pay any fees up front. You can apply for a tuition fee loan that you repay only after you finish studying and are earning more than £21,000 per year.

What's included in the tuition fees?

The professional and applied nature of many of our courses can mean additional costs are involved. For example, you may need a health or criminal record check. Some courses involve the use of specialist materials and/or field trips. Where these costs are incurred as a mandatory requirement of the course they are included in the tuition fee.

These costs vary depending on your chosen course. You should seek advice regarding the additional costs that are covered by your tuition fees from the school providing your course, using the contact details provided on our course finder.

Additional course costs

During your studies you may incur further addition costs depending on the optional modules and optional activities you choose. For example, optional field trips or materials. These costs are not included in the tuition fee and you will need to pay these in addition to your tuition fee.

Please contact the school that delivers your course about possible additional costs before you apply to enable you to budget accordingly.

General study costs

Whatever course you study you should expect to have to pay some additional study-related costs on top of your tuition fees. It's a good idea to budget for books, photocopying and printing from the start of your course.

Paying your fees

For all students, whether you take out a student loan or not, your tuition fees for the year must be paid to the university at the start of your course. This is your responsibility.

You will be required to pay your fees yourself if you cannot provide written proof that your fees will be paid on your behalf by the Student Loan Company, your employer or another sponsor.

Paying your tuition fees with a student loan

If you are studying for your first university-level qualification you can get a loan from the Student Loan Company to cover the cost of your tuition fees whilst you are studying. If you have a student loan, the company will pay the fees to the university. However, you will need to provide us with written proof before the start of your course that you have been granted a loan.
