How to pay your fees


Ways to pay

There are a range of ways to pay your tuition fees direct to the university. If you choose to pay by direct debit you can pay your fees in up to six instalments. If you pay your fees in full by the due date you may be eligible for a early settlement rebate.

Any payments not made in pounds sterling will incur bank charges which will be passed on to the student.

You can pay your fees in one of the following ways:

Online

You can pay your fees securely online.

Cheque

Make cheques  payable to the 'University of Brighton' and write your eight-digit student number on the back of the cheque. 

Credit or debit card

You can either use a card to pay online, or pay in person at the income site offices (see right column).  We regret we are unable to accept Diners Club cards.  Recurring card payment plans of up to six instalments can also be agreed on similar terms to the direct debt.  Please contact the Finance Department to arrange this plan.

Direct debit (self-funding students only)

Our direct debit works on a maximum of up to six instalments can be set up dependent on the agreement date and the fees amount.  The last payment must be made by the following March. No surcharge is made for this service.  You will be able to download the Direct Debit Mandate form when you enrol online.

  • Your eight-digit Student ID number (from your UniCard) and name
  • Customer account number
  • Invoice number

Cash

You can pay in cash direct to the university's income site offices (see right column).

When are fees due?

Tuition fees are payable from the first day of your course. Your fees for the year (or the first instalment) must be paid by 1 November each year. If you are a self-funding students and pay you fees in full by this date you could be eligible for a 5% rebate for early settlement.

Difficulty making payments

If you are having difficulty paying your fees, you must contact our Finance Department to advise us of your situation. You should also seek advice from the university's Student Advice Service.

If you do not pay your fees to the university by the due dates, you will be sent a reminder. Ultimately, if your fees are not paid, you could be excluded from the university. If you are in debt to the university or if you are the subject of a debt relief or bankruptcy order covering university fees you will not be permitted to begin the next academic year, and a final academic award will not be made.
