Santander research scholarships

Two research scholarships worth £5,000 each, funded by Santander Universities, will be available for new and existing University of Brighton research students registered on programmes intended to lead to doctoral awards.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for one of these scholarships, you need to:

  • be a research student from one of the Santander Universities network countries, or
  • be a Home/EU research student undertaking a research programme associated with one of the following Santander Universities network countries:
    • Argentina
    • Brazil
    • Chile
    • China
    • Colombia
    • Ghana
    • Korea
    • Mexico
    • Portugal
    • Puerto Rico
    • Russia
    • Singapore
    • Spain
    • United Arab Emirates
    • Uruguay
    • U.S.A
    • Venezuela

Criteria

Awards are based on:

  • academic merit (including English language ability) of the candidate
  • strategic fit of the proposed project with the university’s research strategy
  • strength of the proposal, and
  • value added by the scholarship to the potential results (i.e. where the scholarship will make a fundamental difference to the student and/or the project).

Exceptions

A selected Santander research scholar cannot hold any other scholarship award from another source.

Deadline for application

The deadline for receipt of applications is 1 July 2013 for October 2013 entry and 1 October 2013 for January or May 2014 entry.

The decision of the selected panel is final and note that accompanying scholarship application documentation cannot be returned.
