Architecture BA(Hons)
I was looking for an arty architecture course and knew that Brighton has a good reputation. I also had friends who had studied and lived in Brighton. The course is even more experimental than I expected. We get involved in as much creative stuff as possible - art, fashion, design, all sorts. The workload is high as I expected it to be.
The best thing about living in Brighton is being near the sea - I live right by the seafront. Brighton is very forward-looking and creative with lots of galleries, shows and bars.
Our department is based on the top floor with huge windows and skylights. It's a lovely space to work in. People are always showing their work - and curious about what others are doing. The technicians are brilliant and really helpful - especially when I need to learn about a new machine or piece of equipment. We also use other resources across the university.
I recently used the map room in the School of the Environment and also looked around the Grand Parade arts building. Exhibitions at the university gallery are very good.
