Mathematics BSc(Hons)

I wanted to come to Brighton because the course offered a mixture of application and theory. Facilities are good - the whole of the second floor of Watts Building is a huge computer lab where every course is catered for - and our lecturers are very helpful. My course includes a placement year that I'm hoping to spend in America or Canada.

The city attracted me as well - I wanted to experience lots of different cultures and views and I'm from London so London-by-the-sea sounded great! There is almost too much to do. If you want a specific genre of music there are probably three pubs and a club that you can hear it at. I spent my gap year helping to teach maths at my old school working with the educational welfare officers and children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. I wanted to put something back into my school, and help the teachers who helped me.

University has focused me - I wasn't sure what I wanted to do or who I wanted to be. I have gained lots of new experience and loads of new friends.
