Ragheb Aga
Sport and Exercise Science BSc(Hons)
I attended an international HE fair at home in Kenya and the staff on the Brighton stand were so friendly and helpful. I applied for the course first, and it was a bonus that I was awarded an Elite Athlete scholarship to help cover expenses related to my sport.
I have a fitness coach at the university – we work together on a fitness schedule and I'm in the gym four times a week. I play for the university cricket and hockey first teams as well – we won both BUSA leagues last year.
Eastbourne suits me, it is a nice place to live. I've made lots of friends and the nightlife is really good for students.
I'm really enjoying the course. I didn't realise the depth in which we would study each subject and it is harder than I expected. Psychology is my favourite subject. I'm really interested in how the mind works. Sometimes it is hard to balance sport and studying – we get no special favours but everyone is very supportive in helping me achieve that balance.
