Falmer Sustainability Action Network
Following a short break, the Falmer network was re-launched in May 2012, with an event taking stock not only of what the Environmental Action Network had achieved in previous years, but also what the university is doing to promote sustainability.
At the Sustainability Action Network meeting, presentations were received from co-ordinators of the activities which developed out of the previous called Environmental Action Network. There were also presentations from support departments illustrating their commitment to sustainability in their work practices, and specific projects to promote sustainability in the university. Information from these presentations is summarised in the document 'Sustainability in Falmer May 2012'.
Network events will be arranged each term, to support the organised activities, and to develop new initiatives to promote sustainability on the campus.
All staff and students are warmly invited to attend to share their ideas and to contribute to a cleaner, greener, active campus.

Meeting dates 2012/13
Tuesday 22nd January at 12.00 in Checkland D511
All welcome - come along and find out what you can do to make Falmer a cleaner, greener, active campus
At this meeting, we present the first of what we hope will be a series of academic presentations on aspects of sustainability. Hear Gemma Burford from the Sustainable Development Coordination Unit on “Sustainability through a Values lens”: Is `sustainability' just about recycling and turning lights off, or could it relate to values like trust, empowerment, justice, respect and unity?
Other items for discussion at this meeting include:
- A proposal to improve litter facilities on the campus
- Feedback from the University’s C-Change campaign
- A discussion on community engagement to support sustainability
Hope to see you there
Next meeting: Monday 13th May at 12.00 in Mayfield 101
