Sustainability Strategy
The purpose of this 6 point strategy is to embed sustainability into our culture and practices. It has been developed by the SNM Sustainability Group in response to the University's Sustainable Development Policy.
1. Curriculum
- To review the sustainability of each course
- To integrate teaching and learning about sustainability into each course
2. Research
- To promote research into sustainability in healthcare
- To conduct all research in line with the National Institute for Health Research Carbon Reduction Guidelines
3. Economic and social engagement
- To establish links with the local community through the Community University Partnership Programme
4. Staff and student experience
- To support sustainable teaching practices and learning experiences
- To retain student and staff membership of the SNM Sustainability Group from each campus and healthcare profession
- To communicate current news and resources about sustainability in healthcare
5. Physical Environment
- To achieve all administrative and educative practices with the lowest possible carbon footprint
- To liaise with each School site group about any sustainabilty issues related to the physical environment
6. Governance, management and relationships
- To record and publish minutes of the SNM Sustainability Group
- To publish an annual report for the Board of Study and the SNM Teaching, Learning and Assessment Group
- To contribute to University-wide sustainability initiatives
