To help control the spread of COVID-19 and to ensure the safety of everyone on our campuses we are offering regular COVID-19 home testing kits to all students and staff.
The university’s provision of home test kits is designed to work alongside the many community testing options also on offer.
You can arrange to have a test kit delivered to your home address by visiting the government website. You can also obtain the kits from pharmacies and community test sites. The university is offering home test kits at our Eastbourne Hillbrow Sports Centre, Falmer Sports Centre and Cockcroft and Grand Parade Caretakers’ desks.
You are strongly encouraged to test twice weekly to help everyone to stay safe.
Once you have completed each test, it is really important that you report your result, even if it is negative.
The tests are for students and colleagues who are not showing any symptoms. They are designed to identify people who are potentially infectious but are asymptomatic. It’s possible to be positive with COVID-19 but not be aware of it.
These tests are known as Lateral Flow Tests and can be self-administered at home. They don’t need to be sent to a lab and you’ll get your results the same day.

If your test is negative
If you test negative, you don’t need to take any further action but please continue to observe Government and university good practice including hand washing and wearing of masks.
